Chalk paint

Most commonly, chalk paint is made by mixing two parts of water based paint with one part of calcium carbonate. It is possible to make at home. It mixes into the paint easily, it has a very good consistency and coverage, it dries within half an hour. Once the leftover paint is stored it keeps the same consistency for days (1).

	Low Energy Chalk paint has a lower energy footprint than water based paint, but still higher than natural paints.		Tips Because chalk paint is made by mixing acrylic paint and chalk, it has a lower embodied energy than pure acrylic paint, but higher than purely mineral paints (limestone or clay paint) and plant based paints (flour paint).

	Non toxic Low or free of VOCs. Quick Dries very quick, but requires preparation time.

	Non toxic No offgassing of VOCs, does not contain solvents. Long lifespan Chalkpaint, like other mineral natural paints, have good durability (1).
